Well after 5-7 weeks not running and resting up was the best part of my healing, in the past years when injured I never really took time off running it was more I didn't train as much and hope for the best to heal !!! but this time around with many longer races coming up and pals telling me to rest ! I said OK I've still got my cycling and hiking etc so for the 1st time ever ! I took the time out and WOW am back running now and feel great, so much power and having the love of running again it great,it was my Birthday on the 16th of March and what a great day to start running again and had a great little loop, so if your reading this and thinking yes I'll will miss my running and that great feeling you get etc .. find some other things to do like hiking etc while resting from running, cause I'll tell you your running will be so much faster and stronger!... enjoy life and running.. peace Laragh Trail Run 6km a small local race that went great, I was a helper on the day by taking the Photos and such a nice day as well... M.S.R was giving a free ticket so we made it a competition and Rene Borg was picked out of the hat of many other names and in came in 2nd place of the race with Tony Collins 1st. happy faces all day at the race and they seem to got a lot of good support for the locals with cakes, tea and food etc.. I took over 190 pics as you can see on this link,...total raised for the school is just under 2100euro https://www.facebook.com/laragh.trailrun https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.508335729274800.1073741851.263214820453560& 29 March at 10:00 – 15:00 How to stop losing race places to someone who knows how to read a map. A preparation course for the open mountain races such as IMRA etc.. Who is this course for? Mountain runners who want to run off the beaten track. Wednesday night hill racers who long to try the longer weekend races but fear 'getting lost'. Adventure racers who have to pick up the pieces when their designated team navigator falls asleep on her/his feet. In fact anyone who feels constrained by a fear of maps, compasses and the jargon Who is delivering the course? Paul Nolan a qualified Mountain Leader Who's he? Former hill runner, map maker and orienteer'. In his second hill race Paul lost 15 places by following the runners in front of him, rather than the unmarked race route. He swore it wouldn't happen again. For the next two decades his main claim to fame was beating faster runners who went off course in the heat of battle. These days he is a qualified Mountain Leader, Emergency Medical Technician and member of the Glen of Imaal Mountain Rescue Team. What will be covered? * Maps. How to read them, trust them, distrust them then grow to love them. * Route choice. How to pick the route that works best with your strengths. * Re-location. What to do when you expect the ground to rise but it is falling. * Compasses. Why they are not scary and not really that important when you love maps. * Contours. The most important lines you'll ever meet when on the hills. * The 3 key words. You'll have to come along to find them out. Outcome for you? Seeing and understanding all the information that colourful piece of paper called a map really contains. Using it to make choices. Executing those choices and letting your running speed dictate your result rather than your unfulfilled navigation potential. The clothing you need for the outdoors. Even though the subject is running nav we will be walking, so boots, over trousers, coat, hat, gloves, thermal layers, a bit of food/drink. Pen and paper for the indoor part if you want to take notes. We have Limited places to 12 so you all get attention and time during any Q & A. All for a special rate of 50euro per person with Mud Sweat & Runners www.mudsweatandrunners.weebly.com www.facebook.com/mudsweatandrunners WOW!! What a great deal not to be missed!!! I'll be having Basecamp Ireland outdoor store selling Maps, Compass and running gear on this course. with great deals for all...
